Mark Perazella is a Professor of Medicine in the Clinician Educator track in the Section of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. He served as Program Director for the Yale Nephrology Fellowship Program from 2003 until 2015. He serves as Medical Director for the Acute Dialysis Unit in Yale-New Haven Hospital and Medical Director for the Yale Physician Assistant Online Program and the Yale Physician Associate Program.
At the national level, he completed a 6-year term as a member of Nephrology Specialty Board for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), Co-Education Director for the ASN Board Review Course and Update, member of the ASN Education and Post-Graduate Education Committees, and Chair for the ASN Onco-Nephrology Forum Group. He also participates as a member of the Education Committee for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and Seminars in Dialysis, Section Editor in AKI for Clinical Nephrology, Core Curriculum Advisory Board for American Journal of Kidney Diseases, and on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Medicine.
His clinical areas of interest in nephrology include medication-related kidney disease, cancer-related kidney disease, HIV-related kidney disease, acute kidney injury/critical care nephrology, urine microscopy in kidney disease, hyperkalemia, and complications in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) such as nephrogenic systemic fibrosis and intradialytic hypotension.
